Can any of you Spanish speakers help? I can't find the upside-down Spanish question mark in the Insert/Symbols stuff (where all the accented letters are)in Microsoft word. How can I type it? Thank you!

Soupie, I have been messing around in Display Panel and got nowhere - the keyboard part only lets you do things like "cursor blink rate" - really useful!

There is another icon for "Regional & Language", have been fiddling there and changed US to UK where I can but the pound sign etc still don't work.

DH will just have to get his book out. Or ring Dell.

lyric - I only have eyes for you

JanH, my language settings are on the same option but a separate tab to the "cursor blink rate" bit. The blinking option is under a tab headed "speed". Must be different in XP I guess.

¿ Alt 168
í Alt 161
é Alt 130
á Alt 160
ó Alt 162
ú Alt 163

...well, did used to use in my previous working life (sob)

whymummy, I wish I knew what you'd done because our keyboard does that all the time and I've been trying to change it - if you find out what you've unset, tell me and I can set it!

It's something to do with US English settings. DH's laptop doesn't have a pound sign at all - so it must be American (although it's a Toshiba) - and has " above the comma and @ above the 2. Our keyboard works like that too, but the symbols are the other way round on the keys. I hope this makes sense!

babster, that's interesting (sorry about your previous life btw!) - all my Alt codes begin with a 0 - there must be thousands of them!

whymummy · 10/10/2003 10:03

oh janh i don't think i will,i'm useless it took me ages to find where the @ had gone

whymummy · 27/10/2003 12:56

jahn i still can't find what i did wrong,i can't find the pound symbol either, did you fix yours?
thanx
