Mystery appearing flies from nowhere any ideas?

Need some advice really, yesterday as we all suffering from colds we stayed in all day, and as it was freezing no windows or doors were opened, in fast we only put the heating on for the first time yesterday.

When my dp and I went to bed we noticed that there was about 4 flies on the ceiling light, we managed to get them and get rid of them, but 10 mins later when we went back to bed there was another 5 of the landing light, this happened a few times until we managed to kill at least 15 flies. We went over house and there was not any. Partner went to work this morning and I have just got up and gone to shops, heating on to warm through and just gone to go upstairs and another 4 flies in the house.

This is really baffling me and started to get a little freaked out, partner not home till 8 pm tonight.

I would describe my house for tidyness as 8/10, not dirty, i mean I may leave the plates on the side and wash up the following morning, but always done that, so why are they appearing now, is it a coincidence that I put the heating on.

Any advice, tips etc etc.

Do you have an attic ??

Yes, dp was up there a few weeks ago putting some stuff up there

They come in under the roof tiles, (we think,) and then when it is warmer in the house than the attice they migrate. I generally open the void, and spray the guts of a can of fly killer up there that generally does the trick.

Exactly the same thing happened in my house last night.It freaked me out too!If it can happen to both of us, I think its safe to say it must be the loft theory and they are coming in through roof.

Glad its not just me then lol, I had a dream that ds had bought it a dead mouse and had it under his bed and that attracted the mice, I have to say I did look this morning . Hopefully that will be the end of it and I can start relaxing, although the site of dp and ds running about the house with newspaper was a funny site.

dp strayed 95% of a can in the loft last night and we used the rest to kill 30+ flies last night, i hope the last few were the ones escaping from the lost as I cant take them anymore, I really have a thing for flying insects.
