Vertbaudet 'sold' my details and now I get loads of unsolicited catalogues. How can I stop them?

Early this year I bought some sheets from the Vertbaudet 'Home' catalogue. Shortly afterwards I started to receive lots of catalogues selling children's furniture or/and toys.

It took me a while to realise who'd done the dirty on me as I'd at the same time ordered dd1's bed from John Lewis and matress from LitteWoods. But now I know it is Vertbaudet as all catalogues come through with the wrong first name initial on them and Vertbaudet have the wrong initial on my account.

Can anyone tell me how I can stop them coming wihtout me having to telephone every catalogue?

I've tried putting them back in the post with "Not at this address" written on them but we've moved house and our mail is currently being redirected. The post office now intercept my "Not at this address" items and 'redirect' them to our new/current address.

Contact Vertbaudet and complain. Also there's something through the post office. It's like the Telephone Preference thing but it works for junk mail. The other option is that anyone who sends you a postage paid reply envelope, tear up what they have sent you, stuff it in the envelope and post it back to them.

You can also do this online. Contact the Mail Preference Service here They deal with juck mail, phone calls and spam email.

The trouble with verbaudet is that like amny catelogues you have to tick a box to say you don't want them to pass your info on - if you missed this tiny box and its smallprint then they are legally entitled to pass on this info. Crap I know.

katierocket · 15/11/2005 10:27

if you didn't tick the box they are within their rights to sell your details.

I can only guess that I missed the box on this one occasion.

I am getting hundreds of these bloody things as well. I dont know whose box I forgot to tick, but really makes me feel like never buying from catalogues again.

You can still contact the MPS - we used to get loads of junk mail, spam and worst of all sales calls and within weeks of signing up with the MPS we had hardly any. Its free.
