Well, we're all talking about the states our houses are in on one thread or another this week... so go on, what do you do really well? I'm a great multi-tasker at work, but there is never enough of me to go around at home, and now I'll be working from home I'd like to 'work smarter' here too... so, my ears open really wide, go on and boast!

I am still chuckling at this. NAyone else tried it?

ghengis · 07/10/2003 15:34

Does it matter what denier they are? Does it work with pop socks too?

waterbaby · 07/10/2003 15:51

Seriously, I'm still trying to work this one out (I'm an engineer but obviously a dim one). Do I tie the phone to my head with the tights? At last, something to do with all of those holey onbesthat jump out at me on the way to work

At supper time when dd is getting a bit antsy and I don't want her to watch tv, I tape down a long piece of lining paper on the kitchen floor and set her up for painting! I can get the supper ready, clear up the dishes or just tidy up in the kitchen, she's usually good for about 30 minutes or so.
Not really a time saver, sorry, just an idea!

Colette, what a fantastic idea! I have a cordless headset phone myself for work (doesn't even have a handset, only headset), but I had never thought of pulling tights over my head when talking on the regular house cordless!! Can you still see alright or don't you pull them down over your eyes? Lots of brilliant feedback on this thread. The plunger was a classic also--was his head bald and numb? How could you not feel a plunger on your head??? That is the thing that you shove in the toilet with a big stick on the end of it when it is plugged right?

Okay...my timesaver. I do things in circles. I walk round and round the house picking things up and putting them in their correct spots. I think I probably suffer from attention deficit also, but this way I am never bored with trying to tackle clearing any one of my entire counters at one time. I move from room-to-room and within about an hour things are quite sorted out and I get a little bit of exercise at the same time! I also keep wipes at strategic posts around the house so that I can wipe things as I see them. I also spoil myself with cleaning ladies that come every other week.

Will queen-size tights work?

ScummyMummy · 08/10/2003 06:57

ROFL at you guys with your warm tight covered heads

SoupDragon · 08/10/2003 07:24

I assumed you pulled the tights on like a hat and shoved the phone up one side although now I think about it that isn't going to support the weight of the phone. Maybe you put the crotch part over your head like a hat and tie the legs under your chin, fastening the phone over one ear with a leg?

janh · 08/10/2003 09:23

As colette uses her DD's tights, I imagined the pants part on her head with the phone, inside one of the little legs, dangling approximately next to her ear - bit inaccurate though - feet tied under chin would keep the phone in the right place, wouldn't it?

colette, please have someone take a picture and post it somewhere we can see it?

babster · 08/10/2003 09:29

Makes me wonder why motorists bother buying hands-free kits when they could just... snort... drive around with tights on their head

sunchowder · 08/10/2003 15:13

Good one babster...and Soupy, you guys are so great. So I guess the queen size won't work..didn't realize she was using her DD's tights!

Janstar · 08/10/2003 15:20

What size is a queen?

sunchowder · 08/10/2003 15:38

Queen size is for Mum's that retained their 9th month shape after the birth!!!! And I have NO excuse Janstar, I didn't break any of my limbs!

Janstar · 08/10/2003 15:42

A mother's life is reason enough.

Girly · 08/10/2003 16:14

love it! must dig some out for when dh comes home from work, tell him ... snigger snigger that I learnt it on a time management course

That has really made me laugh, can just imagine all mumsnetters gassing on the phone with tights round their heads!

codswallop · 08/10/2003 16:15

its the long ears I like

where is colete?

Girly · 08/10/2003 16:16

do you think she has realised what she started?

codswallop · 08/10/2003 16:18

I still giggle about it.

need to get out more.

Girly · 08/10/2003 16:20

Think I will do it, dh will think I have finally lost the plot

SoupDragon · 08/10/2003 16:23

Come on... has anyone actually tried this?? I can't as I don't think I own any tights any more. Being a SAHM, I wear only jeans (and have 2 DSs). Do you think it would work with a pair of underpants instead? Clean of course. If there's an ariel bit it could stick out of a leg hole.

Snort!

tinyfeet · 08/10/2003 16:31

Reading carefully , you'll see that Colette is recommending her dd's wolly tights, not her own. I think my own tights would be too big to work.

colette · 08/10/2003 16:35

Janh - you guessed right
The legs are tied seductively under the chin . I don't wear tights myself and dds are stripey . ( I think this adds to my allure) I only really use them when I'm talking to my mum as it is impossible to have a short phone call .If I se anyone in a car with tights on their head I will know thy are a mumsnetter;0

colette · 08/10/2003 16:38

Soup Dragon I have to confess I did try it with underwear first and then graduated to tights. Do you think I should have this idea patented

Girly · 08/10/2003 16:50

Oh colette, you have given me a real boost today, thanks!

Bozza · 08/10/2003 16:58

Collette I thought they'd all scared you off. Glad you were brave enough to come back and put an end to our suspense. Have got a DS. Do you think pj pants would work?
