Tamula - my DH went to school in Bishops Stortford, although obviously a good while ago! He was at Bishops's Stortford College, which is a private school with an excellent reputation.

Are you looking for private or state, and what age? I can ask him tomorrow (he's just gone to bed) what he knows about others there.

Thanks Tabs,

dd currently 8months!! but wouldn't mind knowing if it had any good state schools or indeed private, or just a feel of the area, for instance if there is a rough as toast side of town and a generally pleasant side?!!

Cheers

Just spoken to him and another of his friends who also knows the area.

They say Herts and Essex girls school (state but with entrance exams) is best for secondary.

They aren't so sure about primary schools as didn't live there til secondary age.

Area to avoid living is near the cemetery (Queens Rd).

For older houses go to north east side of town, which is right catchment for Herts and Essex.
There are also couple of newer developments (Thorley, Bishops Park, St Michael's Mead on south side) where the houses are smaller, but obviously cheaper.

Oh Thanks Tabs, I really appreciate you taking the time.
