does it bother you when people email you to leave feedback for ebay items?

i got one of dd1 cmas presents last month on ebay, its been about 3 weeks since the item arrived and ireally only inspected it last week (it went to sparklys house) and havent left feedback. i tend to leave feedback for items a bit later than normal, mainly as my ebay use goes in bursts, sometimes i won get anything for months, then i go mad and win lots of small items. so i sit down one evening and do the whole lot of feedback needed. i havent ever forgtton to do feedback, just cant be bothered at the time. but when people email me to do their feedback it bothers me. its like they are demanding it, so i leave feedback short and to the point. the one just now said, 'great item, thanks'.

sorry but it annoys me when people dont do feedback immediately.

If you are a buyer, the seller should leave positive feedback as soon as you have paid IMO. Then I always leave feedback as soon as I have received and am happy with the item.

and I have emailed to ask for feedback...he didnt do it for a month and it was really irritating - after all you want to get your score up!!

misdee · 07/11/2005 18:27

maybe its just me then enid, but am not worried as have 100% feedback

reminds me, must do one for item paid for.

it seems a bit pushy

tamum · 07/11/2005 18:29

Yeah, I hate it. Feedback extortion, it's called, and I would deliberately leave it as long as possible if anyone did that to me .

misdee · 07/11/2005 18:29

i mean ebay give you 90days to leave feedback. if i got to day 8- then i'd expect an email. lol

I sometimes email and ask for feedback to be left, if only to know that the item got there ok and they are happy with it!

I always leave feedback for items paid for straight away otherwise I end up with loads!

LadyTophamHatt · 07/11/2005 18:30

It doesn't bother me and I always leave feedback as soon as I get the item.
Alot of winning bid emails I've recieved have been followed by an email from the seller reminding me to leave feed back......you're giving us all a bad name misdee!!

Lonelymum · 07/11/2005 18:31

I recieved a cross email from a seller when I left less than perfect feedback. She said why bother to write anything at all if I was going to say what I did. Huh? Is there a rule you must only leave positive feedback no matter what you think?

marthamoo · 07/11/2005 18:31

I've never emailed specifically to ask for someone to leave feedback - but it really pisses me off when people don't leave it at all. I'm not a prolific ebayer but I've done maybe 80 transactions - yet I only have 65 feedbacks. I leave feedback immediately.

What I do do is email when I've sent the item and say so, then add "I hope you are pleased with your purchase - if so, please leave feedback and I will do likewise."

JenumGeranium · 07/11/2005 18:32

Plus its the feedback score that may make someone buy or not buy, so we all want a good feedback score dont we?

misdee · 07/11/2005 18:33

I dont mind people asking to leave feedback with the winning email, thats like a gentle reminder, but when its one saying 'can you leave feedback for this item' (sometimes there is a please, sometimes not) then its like 'oi you, tell everyone i'm good, or i'll neg you!' i mean a lot of the time the seller wont leave feedback till i've left for them. which is mad cos i generally pay through paypal, or send cheques asap.

i usually leave it for a month then send an email to ask if the product was ok etc, but i usually email and thank the seller as well as leaving feedback, also i always leave feedback when i recieve an item and not until a buyer has left feedback for me when selling

tamum · 07/11/2005 18:36

I don't mind with the winning email either, and I do always leave feedback. It's just not always the same day as I receive the stuff. I have had loads of sellers who have never left feedback, lots of people don't I think. I still don't like being nagged though.

JenumGeranium · 07/11/2005 18:36

I dont agree with feedback not being left till you as the buyer has left it - iyswim.

If you are a buyer and you pay quickly you should receive positive feedback straight away. You should be judged on your paying abilities!

I guess some people wait until they receive it incase they get a neg and can then get one back so to speak - makes me mad!

sparklymieow · 07/11/2005 18:37

I hate it when I get an email saying 'leave feedback for me and I'll do the same for you' It makes me think 'hang on, I paid you within 2 minutes of winning surely I should get a postive anyway'

misdee · 07/11/2005 18:38

the whole feedback makes me feel very nervous at times. i am always worried that if i do leave negative (never had to, have been lucky on ebay so far) then i'll get neg-ed back.

OP posts:
JenumGeranium · 07/11/2005 18:40

if that does happen misdee then you can always report it to Ebay as this is not allowed - it does have a name, but cant think what its called!

misdee · 07/11/2005 18:40

oh yes, i hate that too mieow. peter once got a fake footy shirt, gave the guy negative, the guy leave very abusive neg so it got removed lol. and bloke got kciked off for selling fakes. bet he is back on now tho.

no,it doesnt bother me
unless asked rude or impolite

NomDePlume · 07/11/2005 21:43

I'm with Enid on this one

Hattie05 · 07/11/2005 21:47

I sell on ebay, and never again will i leave feedback until the buyer has done the same.

a) because i've been stitched up in the past. Buyer waits for postive and then gives me negative claiming item broke. I know its untrue as he did it to many other ebayers on the same day. never contacted me r.e refund.

b) i find that some sellers only give postive feedback for theirs in return iykwim, so if i give it straight away they don't bother.
