My DD started Brownies last night and she cried

I had to stay with her and she got so upset and worried as she didn't know anyone. Towards the end of the evening she got a 'Brownie Buddy' to look after her and she cheered right up. She was jumping up and down by the time we had to go home. She refused to go to bed until she'd filled her Brownie book in with all her details and done the dot to dot.

She's desperate to get there next week and was ecstatic when she found out there's a trip to Legoland next year.

By the way she's a mole, I'm so proud of her.

Ahh, bless. How old is she? I'd like mine to join when they're old enough.

Well done to your dd. My dd joined Brownies in September (but luckily with 3 of her friends) and loves it - she is a Fox. They had Brownie Revels last weekend (they meet up with other Brownie packs in the area in a central place and do arts/crafts etc) and she had a ball. I hope your dd continues to enjoy it.

She's 7 next week. They start up to 6 weeks before their 7th birthday. You need to get on a waiting list.

A Mole?

I thought they were all names after types of faries....or is that just where my dd goes?

Mind you, she can home and told me that she was going to be a sprout

Sandyballs - how old is your dd? In our area there was a massive waiting list for both Rainbows & Brownies. My dd started Rainbows shortly after her 5th birthday, but her name was down on the list from when she was 3. It is a bit like school places, get your name down asap!

How sweet . My SIL is a guider, so dds have no alternative - they are already signed up for Rainbows (pre-Brownies). They are still only 2 and 3 months, lol.

Fimbo - they'll be 5 in March. Didn't realise there was a waiting list. I'd better get cracking!
Thanks

Brownies can now choose if they want to have animal names or the traditional ones, the guide associations way of keeping up with the times I think.
I think my daughters first trip to brownies was when she was a week old but the again Granny and Aunty are the Leaders (oh and mummy when she can't get out of it).
We've never needed to have a waiting list and always just taken anyone who wanted to come although that does leave us with hundreds of them.
