Are roller skates still as rubbish as they used to be?

5yo dd is absolutely desperate for a pair. I am worried that when she finally gets them they will be a massive disappointment.

Any tips? Are there any good ones about? What to get and what to avoid?

They sound like a possibility. Thank you.

I imagine that roller skating on a rink is fun, but roller skating on a car park less so. Unfortunately we have no rink.

Do you live near a Decathalon sports shop? They've got a really good range of standard and in-line ones and you can try them out (not sure if it's formally allowed but there's loads of floor space!). Then your DD can decide which are the best for her.

I still have mine from 1987, and they occasionally get an outing...

I think it's really lovely way of getting exercise, and as long as the carpark is nice and big and empty, she'll have loads of fun Smile
