Oh god! No pressure I havent done a thing and wont until the middle of December. So next time you feel stressed think of me and youll be the most organised person in the world

notasheep · 01/11/2005 22:54

All the adults are getting books, fantastic bargains about!!!bought big brother John Peel biography in WHSmith for 10 pound instead of 18.99!! so bb will think i have been v.generous!

notasheep · 01/11/2005 22:55

Have to start this early my sister alone has 8 children!!!!!!!

kleggie · 01/11/2005 22:57

Done all the shopping. First time we've even started it before December. DH and I had a couple of days off together so we made a list, headed out, bought it all, wrapped it and put it away.

We're only this organised because we're ttc and didn't want any stress nearer the day!

Davros · 02/11/2005 16:55

I never even think about Xmas until November and it used to be until December when I had more time. I can't understand why people start so early (unless their sister has 8 kids mind you!).
I went through the pile of catalogues last night and chucked out the old ones. When I have time I'll go through them and write ideas down for DS and DD. I also tear stuff out of magazines etc all year and stick them in a file which is ideas of presents to get other people or for me, me, me! I'll have a look through that after my sister's birthday (25 Nov). The Xmas card list is on the computer as address labels so just needs a bit of editing. Will check out Xmas card stock in a few weeks, the last posting dates are really late. Have booked an Xmas delivery with Ocado but not thought about the order yet and won't get turkey from there (disaster last year) so thinking about that vaguely but won't sort out until Dec, prob local butcher. There, perfect plan!

PiccadillyCircus · 02/11/2005 16:58

I haven't bought any presents for anyone.

In fact I haven't bought anything for DS's birthday which is three weeks yesterday.

I am a Bad Mummy .

Oh god please dont remind me, i am usually so so organised it is something i need in my life otherwise i get stressed out, BUT being 7 months pregnant & losing my mind & memory at the moment i have not even started xmas shopping! I am feeling stressed already at the thought of it, i must start and try and sort it all out but i just seem to be so so busy at the moment the days, weeks, months are flying by.

ThomCat · 02/11/2005 17:04

i have bught all Lottie Xmas & birthday presents, and wrapped them!!

Bought my sisters, my 2 x SIL's, my BIL, all the kids presents, my step-fathers, my dads, my mums, know what i'm getting D.

ordered my Xmas cards from the Down's syndrome association.

However the nursery is still half a studio, we still don't have the car we need, need to move/ sort mortgage, need to buy nursery furniture etc etc.

Nemo1977 · 02/11/2005 17:05

nearly all my xmas presents are bought but only because baby is due 16th dec. I am actually going to wrap them all next week I usually start shopping around 25th nov and finish 22nd dec..lol

HRHQoQ · 02/11/2005 17:07

Got £4 of Morrisons saver stamps saved up.........and that's it lol

Nemo1977 · 02/11/2005 17:08

ooo QoQ you just reminded me i have some tescos stamps somewhere and the vouvhers from this year..lol

PeachyClair · 02/11/2005 17:38

Got the boy's main presents now (collected the train set today). Still have loads to get though- and no ideas. What do you get a woman you've met six or seven times, but who has been exceptionally nice to you on those occasions, you like a lot, is going to marry your FIL but MIL tells you to get nothing for the 'marriage wrecker' and all FIL can suggest is 'something personal'? I decided I think on jewellery- not convinced she is a jewellery mad person, but seems appropriate.

Got to get the kids sorted as a priority though... before I run out of cash

Rarrie · 02/11/2005 18:05

I have to admit that I do not buy anything in December. I started paying for the vouchers in Jan and pay a bit every month, then get a wadge of vouchers mid november and go out and buy everything then.

I started buying for my DD in July and cheapskate that I am, managed to get many things in the summer sales etc. Didn't pay full price for anything! She is now done.

Have got a few presents for friends etc, but nothing yet for family. I will do that in the last two weeks of November. Have bought the advent calendar, started making the Xmas cards and have bought some new Xmas decs but that's it. Quite organised really!!

we havn't even started yet, we do it all in one day- both book the day off work, get into city centre about 8am and spend the day trudging around the shops, stopping off for food and drinks on the way around.

mancmum · 02/11/2005 19:02

xmas is in my diary... that is as far as my planning has progressed...

Frayedknot · 02/11/2005 19:04

Have made list for ds and me, yet to distribute.

DH will decide what he wants on Christmas Eve and then winge becuase no-one got him what he wanted.

Presents will start buying mid-Nov probably.

Decorate around the 20th.

No food shopping as going to parents for 36th year in a row. Did offer to do it this year but not everyone can get to me, so Mum is doing it again.

Frayedknot · 02/11/2005 19:05

20th of Dec, I hasten to add.

skinnycow · 02/11/2005 19:07

I have bought everyone's present except our children. Presents are wrapped and tagged.

Cards are bought, written and stamped.

Still to do:

Post overseas gifts
Buy and decorate the tree
Cook xmas day dinner

Tortington · 02/11/2005 19:10

i'm very organise d- i have found a place - wilkies where you can get 2 selectio boxes for 1.49

right then thats every child family & friend sorted for £22.50.

MIL is getting a box of biscuits and FIL a book about formula 1 from the the works.

i reckon i will have all extended faily and friends done for under £100

PrettyCandles · 02/11/2005 19:17

We tend to buy things for the kids as and when throughout the year, so we've got a fairly decent stockpile for them already - apart from the 'big' pressie for ds. Ordered something for my mum yesterday.

But this is my 'ah-hah!' moment: I baked the Xmas Cake yesterday and gave it its first feed today. Feeling very smug.

Nightynight · 02/11/2005 19:38

Christmas - why worry, its 14 months away, surely?

nutcracker · 02/11/2005 19:40

I have quite a bit but still quite a bit to get too.

I start in June but only because of kids birthdays also being in november and december.

Got their xmas eve pj's today

katymac · 02/11/2005 19:42

Well I have our passports, our tickets are due, bought a new swimsuit, can't really pack until nearer the day.......
