Had weekend minus kids so took chance to christmas shop - just about got everyone sorted apart from my 82 year old active gran.

Please help me think of an exciting present for under £30.

What about a 'grandparents' book from Past Times? It's about a tenner so you could get something else as well. But it's for her to write all her memories and likes in different sections.

Last Christmas gave my gma (92!) a flipover photo album with pics of the us, kids etc... she was over the moon. So hard to think of things when they seem to have everything they want/need....

What about a cd of her favourite music. Although that isnt particularly exiting. A trip to the theatre is though! that is under £30, or perhaps a 'beauty day'.

thanks for those ideas - I forgot to mention that it's a secret santa thing too. So the photo album would be difficult as no-one else knows who everyone's got (big family!), and haven't got enough photos of everyone else for it not to be obvious!

My mum who is about the same age loves the George Foreman grill that we got her last year.
She also gets a load of use out of her electric can opener, as she was struggling opening tins as she has arthritis.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/10/2005 21:55

how exciting did you mean .. hehe

I got my 89 yo Nana 3 days out,
A museum £5
A Garen £9
A wildlife park £17

I paid for her carer to go to (for those prices)

MamaMaiasaura · 31/10/2005 22:01

charging for museums.. outragous did they let the carer go free? I get into all sorts free when accompanying patients.. even the gym! -

Still think if she is active you should give her something to suit her personality more than her general age group though although i dont think an enimem cd would go down too well

M&S have some lovely flower sets in atm for xmas. They've got lilys, Crocus and Iris. They come with a pot of little glass vases and you basically set them up yourself.
Prices are from £4.99 and go up to £20.

I got a few for xmas pressies. Really nice.
