Major help needed fending off Trojan Horse Virus

Does anybody out there know if it is safe to turn off your computer whilst your anti-virus software is dealing with it?? Or should I leave my computer running until the problem has been dealt with? If anyone has had the experience of a Trojan before please advise. My AVG software is dealing with it but do i really have to leave my computer on, it's been on dealing with this for 9hours already....help!!

Post this in geeky stuff in other. I feel awful but I can't help as I Wont be on for a few days, and there's people there who will be able to help quicker than me. Make sure you post exactly what your anti virus message is, and also what your computer is running, XP, Vista, Win 7 etc.

If you haven't already, change all your passwords.
