are you meaning those that shampoo the carpet and make it all sparkly again? Or just a normal upright hoover?
If you want a all singing/ cleaning /dancing/ shampooing thing you should try the one they advertise on t.v. Its called a RugDoctor. It costs £13 to hire for 24hrs. You'll need proof of who you are. i.e gas bill and a credit card to put a £50 deposit on. Then there is carpet cleaner stuff for about £12 a bottle.
We hired one and it was fab. Well worth the £24 quid. We've hired it twice now and can't fault it. HTH! Sorry if I've wasted your time!

I saw a great review in Sunday Times for a shampoo cleaner made specifically for home use. The journalist said it was really easy to use. It is by Maytag an american company. I was going to hire a cleaner but the review was so good I have now ordered one for £200. The current only UK stockists are Littlewoods and after the article they sold 6 months of stock in a couple of weeks. I have ordered direct from the manufacturer.

don't know about the hoover one but I've got an electrolux one and its rubbish. I really regret getting it and it doesn't compare at all with a professional clean.
