URGENT - how on earth do I get Vaseline out of dd2's hair?

Put Vaseline on her head last night to get rid of cradle cap. That worked a treat but I've now washed her hair four times and it's still coated in the stuff. Have tried adult shampoo and coal tar eczema stuff as well.

TIA.

hmmm try fairy liquid? a detergent would cut through grease, which is what it is... maybe?

I wondered about Fairy - she's 2.5 and very unimpressed .

dont tell her what it is!
at 2.5 she is old enough to cope with what ever you try. i was just asking as i thought it wouldnt be appropriate for say a four month old!

flashingnose · 25/10/2005 20:03

OK, Fairy Liq it is tomorrow. I did this with both the others and it came out after two washes - v odd.

stitch.. i think it's the vaseline she's unimpressed with! lol

do not wash her hair using water. put the shampoo onto dry hair, rinse, towel dry, shampoo again.

flashingnose · 25/10/2005 20:05

Is that so the shampoo can break down the Vaseline? Or something like that?

detergent molecules have one part that likes fatty stuff, so sticks to that. and the other part likes water, so sticks to that. this is what makes detergent so good at removing grease, it sticks to the grease, and can then be rinsed away withthe water.
if you put the fairyon to dry hair, then you are giving all the molecules a chance to stick to grease, so hopefully getting more of it to come out when youwash with water.
