people who only ever post in the 'for sale' and 'wanted' sections?
I've had a bad experience in the past with someone and I'm hoping it won't happen again.

No, I would not buy from someone who only posted in that section.

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 14:26

i avoid both sections like the plague, and yes I would be suspicious of someone that only used those parts of the board. Much as I am about the posters who only ever post on the baby modelling threads.

spooklymieow · 24/10/2005 14:27

I don't buy from people who only post in those sections, I buy from people I 'reconise'

kid · 24/10/2005 14:32

how about selling to them (at a bargain price - or would you rather take your chances and sell the item on Ebay?)

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 14:33

I think I'd sell to them, posting the item out once their payment had cleared. I'd be more likely to post on trust with a long-term recognised MNer.

Enid · 24/10/2005 14:35

no way

even selling is a pain tbh (endless questions and is it really necessary to ask for a receipt??)

think you should name and shame in case anyone else gets burnt

HRHQoQ · 24/10/2005 15:12

so I guess none of you will be buying my table football table

But no - I probably wouldn't sell to (or buy from) someone who had only posted on those boards - want to be someone I'd "seen around" first TBH.

kid · 24/10/2005 15:13

LOL at name and shame. The seller that I had a bad experience with no longer posts as I think others had a bad experience too.

While we are talking of buying and selling I am a regular MNer and am selling some kids bits. I am just loading pics onto my computer so if you might be interested, hang around!

hmm, that's a hard one. I know of two mn regulars who began by only posting in buying and selling and gradually joined in with the chat after a few months - one a rl friend who I recommended the site to, and one who I bought stuff from and we chatted on email. I would think it a shame if they were being treated with suspicion although I would understand why.

Agree re the naming bit - I think there's nothing wrong with asking on here where your goods are. It was only when one mumsnetter posted on here earlier about goods not being received by a particular person that it transpired she was not the only one. If we let people know (like the neg feedback on ebay) then we can avoid them in future.

Have to say I was a poster on Buy and Sell before I finally took the plunge and posted everywhere else

Got a right telling off for it too But glad in a way coz it got me joining in and now I can't bloody stop

I will sell to people I don't really 'know' as long as it's paypal. Don't like cheques at all but will take them from trusted regular posters.

If eveyone would buy the outgrown stuff I would be able to buy more

kid · 24/10/2005 16:47

I posted a thread for the items I'm selling now. Can't be bothered to do a link, I'm trying to find a recipe for dinner tonight!
