WE'VE HAD 2 OFFERS !

Our Estate Agent called yesterday and the keen buyers made us a cheeky offer, which we refused. They immediately came back with a bid slightly higher but not quite enough, we refused that too. We only need to them to come up by another £2.5k, they will. I'm confident of it. We've also found THE house, which is a Grade II listed 3 storey Georgian townhouse, it is vacant possession and these buyers are cash buyers so with a bit of luck and a fair wind we could well be in for Christmas, (providing they take our offer) !

Gobbledigook, did anything come of your 2nd viewing ? I know it was aggggggggggges ago but I've been offline for weeks so haven't been able to catch up, and now I can't find the old thread. Grrrr.

LTH - You must be coming close to completion now, surely ? Excited ?

Brilliant, how exciting! My removal company came this morning at 8.30 and now I'm sitting in an empty house, very wierd! Hope this will be you too soon, fingers crossed for you.

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 10:31

Oh WOW ! Hopefully it isn't peeing it down where you are like it is here. Not good weather for furniture removal.

Fimbo · 24/10/2005 10:33

albert · 24/10/2005 10:34

No, fortunately good weather - but I am in Italy not UK!

moondog · 24/10/2005 10:34

NdP..money from our house sale (after 15 months grrr!) went into our account last Monday.
Hoooray!!

Hey,you should have bought it,it was (is!) a lovingly restored five story Georgian townhouse.

Hope you sell.It's a nightmare isn't it?

purpleturtle · 24/10/2005 10:34

Albert, I love the fact that you're sitting in an empty house, browsing Mumsnet!

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 10:38

5 storeys is a bit much for us, I think ! 3 storeys suits us perfectly - me, DH & DD would be on the 1st floor and the DSs will each have a room on the 2nd floor. It has a usable cellar too, which we'll tank out and convert when there's room in the budget ! Front garden is 75ft and back garden is 150ft !!!!!!! My poor old lawn mower will buckle under the strain . I just really hope that it all goes the way we want.

Congrats to all of you with a light at the end of the property tunnel and fingers crossed for those still in limbo !

The 5 was a bit much for us too.
(I was bloody fit though!)
Your place sounds fab!

Fimbo · 24/10/2005 10:42

Do you have a pic of the new place NDP - it sounds lovely.

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 10:42

The thought of lugging my Dyson up 5 flights makes me !

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 10:44

Yes, it is online but I'd rather not put it on here. Just because it has the address on the webpage and I don't particularly want it broadcast over the net if I'm going to be living there, IYSIM !

The ceilings are high with glorious original mouldings and cornices. It is smaller than we would have like but the plot is massive and it is one of the best locations in the city.

Excellent news NDP.

We're in that horrible quiet stage atm. Estate agents have done there bit, solicitors are fininhing off and we're just waiting about for the completion date.

The people we're buying from have now decided to buy somewhere though, rather than go in to rented which has peed me off. I'm pretty sure thay said rented first to get a buyer then started the ball rolling for buying.
Sods!! They're buying a vacant property though so fingers crossed it shouldn't hold up the process too much.

Everyone still seems to think it will be around the end of November but I'm not so sure.

i was just just about to phone the solicitors for an update actually but keeping you all up to date is far more important

LadyTophamHatt · 24/10/2005 11:30

"there" bit

Ekkkkkk

Their bit.....

noddyholder · 24/10/2005 11:34

We are planning to start all this next week with valuations etc.We last sold when the property market was booming and always got asking price but know things are slow so how much reduction would you accept? Thanks BTW your new house sounds amazing lucky thing!

Brilliant news NDP - I posted a thread asking where you were actually!

Am very .

Nope, nothing, nada, zilch on ours. It's costing us a bloody fortune and I'm fed up of it. I want to do stuff to this house and we want a new car but we can't really do anything till we have just one mortgage. So frustrating.

NomDePlume · 24/10/2005 12:27

You stand an excellent chance of being in for Christmas then, Emma. That's a positive, at least.

Noddy re price reductions. It depends on your area but we priced our house sensibly to begin with, £235k, in my area that is about bang on. We will accept an offer as low as £230k, we can't afford to move for anything less. I would ask for the estate agent's honest opinion (is there such a thing ? [wink), of what houses in a similar style to yours are being sold for (not their asking price).
