DS1 has gone on school trip to US today (it's "Politics" so they get UN, Congress, Arlington & Q&A at the NRA as well as Hard Rock Cafe, Bloomingdales and the Statue of Liberty). He was up at 5am - the flight was at 10am - they landed about 1pm NY time (6pm our time) and spent the afternoon in Central Park. They have a trip up the Empire State Building booked at 2am our time so probably won't get to bed until about 24 hours after they got up.

How old is he? Did he have a chance to sleep on the plane? poor thing! Suppose they have to make the most of the time they are there though. Maybe the excitement of it all will keep him going?

He's 17 - I hope he will have slept on the plane, but there are about 50 of them going so I can imagine it wasn't a calm and peaceful journey.

The teachers get a free trip of course but I can't say I envy them They have some excellent activities and excursions arranged, DH is dead jealous.

Don't worry Janh, with all the excitement of the trip (and lots of classmates around) I doubt he will manage to sleep by then even if he is in a hotel room. Besides, he is young, they can go for almost 48 hrs without problems . NY is only 8 hrs away so he wouldn't be so knackered after the flight.

(Goes to sleep remembering the midnight sun in the British Columbia and the 3 hrs a day sleep she used to have while studying there, lovely time... awww)

Hope he has a great time - glad I wasn't on the same plane! You can imagine how delightful dd2 was when we went back and forth to Indonesia - that was a 24hr trip. I wasn't much better myself, tbh!

Wow, sounds fantastic! I hope he has a great time.
