if so what was it?

I am feeling pressured at the moment and feel that I need to spend some tie with dd (2.10 years old). But I don't want to admit that this is the reason to my boss. I could do with using some good excuse to have a couple of days off (short notice). I know this is wrong but being pg makes me feel very soft and pathetic at the moment.

No, but then in 9 years, I've never had a day off sick (however can work from home) - sadly have a very ingrained work ethic

Donbean · 18/10/2005 20:33

No but ive used him as an excuse to get out of social things.

helsi · 18/10/2005 20:34

I do usually as not had a day sick in over 4 years but I am feeling it and it will be a good couple of weeks before I can get any time off.

I have used my children as an excuse about five times!!!

kid · 18/10/2005 20:36

Can you say that X didn't sleep well last night so you were up half the night with them?

I don't like to pretend my kids are ill as I feel like I'm asking for trouble and they will get whatever I pretended they had!

I don't think I have had to use my kids as an excuse as they are often ill which results in time off work for me. Plus I get 12 weeks holiday a year so I don't really need much more time off!

ScarySkribble · 18/10/2005 20:53

Les likely to annoy most bosses if you claim it is you that is ill, they often don't take kindly to ill children and expect you to find someone else to look after them.

FairyMum · 18/10/2005 21:13

Children surely better excuse than most excuses?

ScarySkribble · 18/10/2005 21:19

Not in some bosses eyes. "My kids kept me up all night" would not warrant a day off work in most business's. I think I would probably frown on that unless they were very ill.

FairyMum · 18/10/2005 21:21

Yes I know that. Just tell them YOU are ill then. What I meant to say it really IS a good excuse. Much better than most hungovers!

ScarySkribble · 18/10/2005 21:24

Oh yes to justify it to yourself it makes a good excuse.

Blandmum · 18/10/2005 21:33

No, and never taken a 'sickie' either. I'd feel too guilty.
