You know the sort of thing, you are listening to a commercial radio station in the car and some advert comes on for a window company or such like and there's some goon screaming, enough to make you switch it off

And you are quietly giving the baby her "dream feed" at 11pm and the TV programme across the hall is full of screaming and shouting.

What's going on? I sound like my nan!

Either I am becoming an old grump, or my children are becoming progressively more deaf with age. The volume on the tv increases every day and drives me demented.

I hate the way programmes like Waking the Dead veer between inaudible whispering and wild screaming. I am constantly reaching for the remote.

Loud tv drives me crazy. It becomes the only thing I'm aware of. Hate it.

charliebat · 05/10/2005 22:19

the way the adverts are at least twice as loud as the programme you were watching makes my blood boil.

swizzles · 05/10/2005 22:21

phew, it's not just me

I was feeding the baby one night when "Jack Dee" was on in our bedroom, the noise was awful and I couldn't turn it down - he was randomly shouting

well, ok, the neighbours were having a hum dinger of a row and I couldn't hear it over the noise of the TV

glad it's not just me that hates the variability of sound between adverts and programmes and in programmes too.

TinyGang · 05/10/2005 22:53

Me too! I'm always stomping about turning down raucous adverts and don't get me going on Saturday morning tv for the 'kidzzz'.

I especially hate those adverts for insurance that keep shouting their phone number at you.

ScarySkribble · 05/10/2005 23:53

I must be getting old too. The way our living room is set up I am inbetween the telly and DH, I keep shout at him to turn it down. I hate it to when it is really quite at the talking bits and then really noisy when the action picks up. Don't even get me started on adverts.
