(With apologies to JJ whose thread along similar lines a while back made me nearly paralysed with envy.)

To friends with no children, the sort I personally feel should be treasured beyond compare. I am going to stay up late and lie in late and wipe nobody else's bottom for a whole 48 hours.

Have a bloody wonderful time. I have done this myself a few times - felt awful doing it the first time. But we as mums deserve some "us" time.

I've just got back from a girly weekend away, and can I just tell you it was bliss Stayed up drinking and talking until the wee hours, with the knowledge that noone was going to whack me over the head with a cup at 6am shouting 'juiccccccce' or 'beebieeeeesss'....

Ate every meal without being the last person to sit down, and without losing half of it to sticky fingers....

No yogurt handprints on my black trousers....

And most importantly, went to the loo ALONE, in peace and quiet

Me too MI!! I'm off to stay with JoolsToo this weekend - she's booked a massage for me and I'm going to go to bed for 2 nights knowing that nobody will wake me up, I'm going to get up when I want to, go to the toilet alone, chill out and read a book....ahhhh, heaven!!

Whilst we are at it, did I mention that my DarlingMum is taking My sis and I to Prague in December for a long weekend, we are going shopping and to the Opera.

She reckons that modern day motherhood is the hardest job in the world and we need a break.

Oh joy - you lucky thing! I did this about 6 months ago (me and best friend got rid of both sets of kids and spent a weekend being students again) and it was just amazing. The best bit was not the partying, the drinking, the staying up late, the shopping till we dropped, the lying in bed until 12... it was sitting in the sun on a rug in the garden, sipping Cava and reading our books for a whole three hours - with no one interrupting us. Enjoy and feel not a shred of guilt. You deserve it.
