DS2 hit by a bicycle coming out of school

Am still shaking
FIL went to pick 6 yr old ds2 up from school. DS2 ran ahead to catch up with his friends. He ran through the small school gate at the same time as a man who was trying to push his mountain bike though the small gap. DS2 came off worse There was blood everywhere so FIL took him into the nursery but there was no-one who could take him to hospital - FIL doesn't drive. My DH came to pick them up and dropped them off at hospital before collecting me.

He has split all his mouth and they have patched him up with steri-strips but tomorrow he is booked in at the Plastic Surgery Ward where they will give him a GA and stitch him up. His mouth is a complete mess and I am so scared he will be scarred for life.

I know it was an awful accident and he was running but I don't think someone should have been pushing their bike through knowing the children were coming out of school. I am so upset and angry

This sounds all too familiar!!! My ds came off his scooter and split his mouth and knocked out a tooth. Believe me it looks worse than it is!
If it is like my ds' he will have a small scar beside his mouth which he will no doubt brag about in his teenage years. He'll be fine, kids are surprisingly resiliant.

That sounds really awful, your poor ds.

tbh if the man was pushing his bike, I can't see that he was at fault. If he was riding it then that would be different. Sounds like your ds was just really unlucky.

Plastic surgeons are brilliant and can do wonderful things. Hope all goes well for him tomorrow.
