I didn't go to relate but had marriage guidance counselling. After the third session the counsellor asked me to stop behind, after my ex had left the room she told me that he was the most arrogant unpleasant rude bully she had ever met in her life and that I would be much better of without him.

Probably not what you want to here but it makes me chuckle!

Yes. It didn't work for us at the time (I don't want to go into details), and we split up for 3 months, but got back together again because we both wanted to. I think Relate is a good idea, but you have to both be committed to make it work.

I think relate or similar are a good idea, my ex was everything the counsellor described him to be and we needed to split up. I think counselling helps you come to the right decision, even if that decision wasn't what you hoped for. If you do slpit up at least you know you tried.
