mole/beauty spot on baby

i have just noticed a mole on the lip of my 1 year old baby. Is it normal for a baby to get a mole so young? My husband and I have no moles at all and i have never seen a baby with one. Is it likely to grow very large if it is already visible? have any of your kids got moles?! is it something to get checked out at the dr?
thanks for any input - quite a random topic i know!

Moles appear on children all the time, my dd has one on her leg and at the top of her thigh which weren't there when she was born. Xmas Smile

If you are worred though ring your HV.

Yes, it's normal, but since, as you say you and your dh aren't moley, it would be a good idea to get it checked out.

My kids had moles from very early age, but then I'm covered in them.

do they tend to grow much as they get older? - i am worried she will end up with a huge mole on her lip which will be difficult to remove..

DD's started to come when she was about 4-5 months, neither of them have got bigger since then and she's 3.8 now.

Sounds daft, I know, but sometimes very dark, almost black, if not black ones on the edge of the lip seem to be a sign of pernicious anaemia.

My father had one and my great aunt developed one just before she had p.a. diagnosed.

ds (very fair skinned) got his first mole when he was about 6 months old. both dh and I have quite a few moles, so I wasn*t worried at all.
I was born with one mole on my face and another one on my leg, they both stayed roughly the same size.
