OMG OMG OMG......

Just saw a MASSIVE, and I mean an inch long sucker dead cockroach right next to computer. Now totally freaking out. We had a couple on our patio about 4 months ago, but none since but semi-detached neighbour has seen them in our communal garage, which leads to computer room. What do I do!!!!!

Just hear horror stories about the damn things, that once you have them, they are impossible to get rid of. How dangerous are the chemicals they use to kill them? DS is 3, DS2 due in Nov.

Please help - any ideas?!!?

Ah yes I think I mean the dust mite. Argh at bed bugs. Can you get rid of them? How do they get there?
Expat - Yes our cockroaches are the big flying ones . The first one I saw out here I bought in on our washing and screamed when I saw it and actually called DH home from work to deal with it. They move so damn fast I was really freaked out and as I say I am fine with all other creepy crawlies. Yuk Yuk. Dh's workmates all had a good giggle at me as they had been here a while by then and so knew that they are pretty much par for the course. (DH's work is only a few mins from the house).

I spent two years in Moscow. In the student accommodation I lived in, if you went into the kitchen after dark and turned on the light they would all scutle under the fixtures...it was like the floor was moving...if you actually wanted to cook something, I had to turn the oven on and wait for them to leave the oven/hob. I hate cockroaches. [shudder]

I don't have a cockroach problem but I do have an awful lot of slugs in the utility room my dh built about 6 years ago and they on;y come out after dark

we seem to have alot of spiders at the min.

vickitiredmum · 24/09/2005 15:54

Slugs are easy to sort - bit of saline solution in a spray gun sprayed liberally - job sorted, non toxic etc etc.

Spiders are the good guys auntymandy! they get rid of all the baddies!

Where do you get saline solution from please. We have slugs!

vickitiredmum · 24/09/2005 15:56

mix some normal table salt with some normal tap water blossom

vickitiredmum · 24/09/2005 15:57

about 1 - 2 teaspoons per glassful equivalent.

vickitiredmum · 24/09/2005 15:57

Only really helpful if they come indoors. The saltwater solution gets washed away outside and i wouldnt recommend spraying it on plants!

I would be thrilled to have spiders!
