recommendation for a book explaining mummy is going to hospital for a 3 year old

Self-explanatory subject - I'm going into hospital and I want to get dd a book to read so that she understands what's happening, why I'm away and why I'm going to be a bit delicate when I come home.
Any ideas?

just been on amazon. nothing there specifically about mummy, so i guess i'll have to look for something more general. thanks anyway WWB.

hmm, how old is dd, and what sort of thing are you ahving done?

There is an Usborne book called "Going to Hospital" about a little boy who has earache and has to go to hospital for an operation. It explains the process very nicely, but I can't off-hand think of a book about Mum going into hospital (except giving birth ones, of course!).

Best bet is to ask your librarian, they know almost every book available and will be able to find you one I'm sure. Our library used to have a section that dealt with 'family issues' such as giving birth, separation, death, bullying, etc, I'm pretty sure they would have one dealing with this topic too.

Rhubard, the library is a brilliant idea - thank you!
Tissy, dd is nearly 3 and I'm going in to have lumpectomy and lymph nodes out - I've got breast cancer. I've found the stuff about children going into hospital, but as you say, nothing about Mum going in. We've started talking about it already so hopefully it won't be overwhelming when it actually comes to it.

Sorry Rhubarb, didn't mean to call you Rhubard!
