WH Smith have lots of books if you go into a store. Some of them are posh some are not. You can get the nice plain trad embossed stationery from there.

Weddings - yay! I used a lovely stationer in Ireland for all my invites/reply cards/orders of service and place settings.

You provide a photo of your venue and they turn it into a gorgeous watercolour with your choice of border (I had a celtic knotwork surround).

Have you been following the GMTV interactive wedding? They had soem lovely invitations to choose from. One was a CD, and the company make a song about you and dh to be and your wedding and make a personalised singing invitation. Not sure if I'm keen or not - but it's certainly different!

Debenhams?

Best invite I got recently was a strip of 4 passport photos with the bride and groom in each one holding placards saying "Please", "come to" "our" and "wedding". It was in black and white and rather funky. They'd obviously scanned the original and printed it themselves.
Certainly not posh but got everyone talking.

I drew my own Celtic knot and had it printed in gold on cream card.

There's Announce It, I've had a few birth announcements from them and they look nice.

Hi Enid, congrats on your marriage.I must have missed that thread.

princesspeahead · 21/08/2003 16:32

Hi Enid, if you mean posh as in traditional and properly printed, you could try Gee Brothers www.geebrothers.co.uk

I've used them a lot for personal stationery, invitations (traditional and funky), change of address cards, birth announcements....

princesspeahead · 21/08/2003 16:33

actually also john lewis are very good and have a huge selection. and, as we all know, "NEVER KNOWINGLY UNDERSOLD..."!!!!

bossykate · 24/08/2003 17:14

you could also try Smythson . do let us know what you have decided so far... i would love to be a wedding/party/travel organiser...

bossykate · 24/08/2003 17:14

she said wistfully...

Enid · 24/08/2003 19:24

thanks bossykate, I couldn't understand why I couldnt find Smythson on the web but have been typing in Smythsons...

I have to say that pph's Gee Bros recommendation was perfect and I have had a lovely time looking through their lovely sample packs. Sad.

hurrah!
they are really very good. and about a third of the price of Smythson...

hi enid, a slow evening couldn't resist checking out gee brothers and lo and behold they are just near us and in fact i checked them out when searching for wedding stationary for our wedding!

agree they are much cheaper than smythson (but you did say "posh"!) and have an excellent reputation.

we didn't use them in the end - i can't remember why. we ended up making our own - i wouldn't recommend this option unless you are both v. creative and v. handy... ours were adequate (no better i'm afraid) and we ended up saving the grand total of £50 quid. i can't for the life of me think why we thought it was a good idea... lord knows we didn't cut any corners with the rest of the wedding!

anyway, good luck and would love to hear about the dress, flowers, decorations etc. if you want to discuss...

I've gone for wedding invites in style F as shown on their website. They are lovely.
