how to de-smell leather armchairs please?

bought two at auction, and they are really smelly.....what is the best thing to do? my thoughts are wipe down with detox? but will that harm the v old leather that is pretty worn thin in parts? leave them outside? what to do...they are lovely but the polite way of saying it would be that they smell of old people!

any top tips?

so apparently you sprinkle bicarb all over, and leave outside and then hoover up. can also wipe down with mixture of vinegar and water. also apparently real vanilla essence made into a solution with water is good for this.
