Making friends on the internet, know any good places.

My brothers has just split up from his wife and while they were together he kind of lost contact with his friends to such a degree that he doesn't have any friends, just wondering if anyone out there know of a web-site for him to be able to get in contact with people who would want to meet up and do the usual bloke thing, pub and football etc etc.
He is not a fan of chat rooms, other then that places where he could meet new friends, he works long hours and doesn't have any time to do courses etc etc.

My dh posts on a few fishing forums, are there any hobbies he has, so he can post on relevent websites? The ones dh uses are posted like mumsnet, so not live chat. He may be able to find something smilar.

Look at Yahoo groups which cover all sorts of issues, hobbies, interests. They are not chat rooms although the differnce is subtle. One member sends one email and it is emailed to all members of the group and you are usually honest about your identity!!

Bouncy, what about friends reunited.

I know if your brother is anything like me there will be lots of people from school he doesn't want to see but you never know.........there may be an old friend out there.
