and probably isn't going to make it.
I've only known her just under one year - but we're really close, and she's been such a 'rock' to me in the last few months.
I rang her up this evening to invite her DS1 (my DS1's best friend) and DS2 (my DS2's 'best' friend - ok they're still toddlers so not really 'friends' as such) to DS1's birthday party on Sunday.
When she answered the phone I asked how she was and then she told me that her brother is in intensive care in Jedburgh and isn't expected to pull through. His ex-wife and parents are now at his bed, but she can't get up there ATM - so she's just 'sitting it out' down here in Northants.
Apparently he's only 34, and has an 11yr old son. They've (friends family) have recently discovered that he's become an alcoholic since splitting with his wife, but apparently it's heart and lung problems that he's in for. So on top of his badly damaged liver there's not much hope.
I'm seeing her tomorrow, and just have no idea what to say to her. None of my RL friends have ever been in a situation like this so I'm so hoping I don't say anything stupid.
