a sort of 1471 but it doesn't allow the others to find out your number?

JoolsToo · 14/09/2005 21:13

well, there's your answer

SleepySuzy · 14/09/2005 21:14

141
141
141
!

Lonelymum · 14/09/2005 21:15

Crazydazy, why do you use it all the time? Are you a stalker darling?

Branster · 14/09/2005 21:17

thank you!

and is it 100% guaranteed?

got a call on my mobile the other day and am a bit confused as to who it may be from. it was from another mobile and not a number i recognize. and very, very few people have my mobile no.

That does sound dodgy doesn't it?

Ring DP's mobile a lot to wind him up and put 141 in front so he doesn't know its me.

He likes to think he's popular, I like to prove him wrong!!!

Branster · 14/09/2005 21:17

they hang up after less than a minute btw and didn't speak

OP posts:
Branster · 14/09/2005 21:19

very dodgy indeed. if it was who i think it should have been then it ahould be id withheld from work as it were. but it did display the number.
i dodn't suppose there is a way of finding who owns that mobile no, is it?!

Crazydazy does that work with mobiles? If dh has our number in his address book (in his phone I mean, sorry not good with modern technological terms) and I dial 141 first, will his phone not show it is home calling?

Branster · 14/09/2005 21:20

Well, I never knew that!

Sorry Branster, I am not sure what your problem is. Do you mean a mobile rang you but nobody spoke? Can't you just ring them back and see who they are?

Branster · 14/09/2005 21:28

that's exactly what happenend LM, but I should have rang back there and then. Instead I felt a bit foolish to ring back in case I look to desperete to get my calls if that makes any sense . anyway, it's been on my mind ever since and i wonder who it was. i know, i know, what an uneventful life i have!!! as it could be a certain person i might look really stupid if ideed i do call them back. yet i am all curious now. it's probably just some stranger misdialing a number probably

OP posts:
crazydazy · 14/09/2005 21:34

Probably was a misdial!!

See....see....I am not a stalker!!!

Lonelymum · 14/09/2005 21:43

I once got a drunken message left on my mobile - clearly someone has misdialled. Most likely it was that. On the other hand, who is this mysterious person it might be? Obviously someone you are trying to avoid!

wysiwyg · 14/09/2005 21:44

COuld have been one of these automatic dialling call centres - they dial automatic randomly selected numbers and when you answer if a member of staff is available then they give you their spiel, if not.... the line goes dead.
Happens all the time to me............also we get recorded sales pitches - drives me nuts.

Branster · 14/09/2005 21:47

LM I cannot divulge who it might have been. I'm not avoiding them though. Top secret!

It wasn't a call centre because it was in some sort of public place like a pub or even a busy office as I could hear some voices chatting leasurly in the background.

But great chance it was a misdial. Whay not say hello and apologise then! No manners these days!!!

brightstar1 · 14/09/2005 21:54

hi, ok update me please. are you saying you can ring 141 from 1 mobile to another and it wont show your number?

Lonelymum · 14/09/2005 21:56

Apparently Brightstar.

Branster, you are very intriguing! wht are you up to?

stacijc · 14/09/2005 21:56

yes BS thats correct u dial 141 then the number and it WILL NOT show ur number

Branster · 15/09/2005 09:18

So first I called my own mobile from my fixed line with 141 and on the mobile it showed ID witheld. So it works!

Then I did 141 and the number in question and, wait for it, the mistery deepens.....!!!

It said 'you have dialled an incorrect number'
WTF!?!?

So then I just did called the number straight from my mobile without any 141s or anything ans it came up again with 'you have dialed an inncorect number'

Who was it then???
Why did the number came up when they called yet I cannot call back?

OP posts:
Branster · 15/09/2005 09:19

Maybe it came from the otehrvside, like in films! Dum, dum, dum dum....

Branster · 15/09/2005 09:52

i have established ia a One2One number (is this T-mObile nowadays???) as it starts with 07985. at least that's what the internet says.
