Can I make anybody feel slightly fond of wasps?

We have a wasp nest in the bathroom roof - they are going in and out through the slates and the council bloke who came to look (from the ground!) said that with a bit of luck they won't bother us after the babies have grown and gone. (He also said they won't return next year but I'm not convinced...)

Well the babies are now emerging - DD1 was watching them today and she said it was the cutest thing, all these tiny wasps creeping out of the gaps in the slates and flying bravely, for about 6", and then turning and darting back in again...awwwww.

(Of course when we have 100s of full-sized wasps dive-bombing us in the backyard I won't be impressed but just for now it is sweet!)

Sorry, not convinced

I like wasps and bees. Find them fascinating, but that is only because I have never been stung!

Why don't you cut yourself a nice big doorstep and smother it with jam and go and eat it in the back garden tomorrow...then tell us what your reaction is to those fledglings

They really haven't bothered us all summer - too busy making the nest and feeding the babies - they are very industrious.

(But no, I'm not convinced either! )

(Oh, and the nest is 20' up so we aren't anywhere near the flight path)

No Jan. It's room 101 for them in my world I'm afraid.
