Went to London Zoo, as we frequently do. Ds's favourite animals are the mara, so off we trotted to see them. Anyway one of them was acting a wee bit odd. Next thing we knew, she was having a baby, not 10 feet away from us. No zoo keepers in sight, just us and another family. It was truly amazing. Anyway, I trotted off to find a zoo keeper to tell, who arrived with cameras etc to mark the occasion. But it was so good to have seen, so naturally.

Anyway a bit later we popped back just as another zoo keeper arrived to see the baby, and we told her how we'd seen it all and how amazed ds was as it was his favourite animal. Well she asked what ds is called and said if the baby is a boy, she'll try and get him named after ds

That kind of thing doesn't happen very often and has really made all of our days.

Last year took DS to the zoo, Ds wanted to see the lions. We had been there 2 minutes when they started mating, we had to leave rather sharpish

Are you all being exceptinally polite or am I the only person to not know what a Mara is? Even googling doesn't come up with an animal.
