Hi there
I am undergoing a phase of loving anything 1950s. I love Cath Kidston, any retro dresses or home decor. Why do you think it's all making such a comeback? I was born in the late 70s, so not my era at all. It just makes me think fun, colourful and optimistic. What about you? :)

I think its making a comeback because its long enough ago to see the kitch "fun" parts of it without thinking about how repressed women were, having been pushed back into the kitchen once their menfolk came back from the services and needed to take back all the factory jobs that women had gained some freedom from doing during the war.

i think it was a time of such exciting possibilities. there was technology evolving almost every day, and yet there was such niavity about a lot of things.

plus the women were classy and elegant so the clothes rock

Yeah - I think you are both right. I don't like the feminist view of it particularly (although I know there is some validity) - but I like the simplicity of it all, I guess.
