just read this & it's terribly sad

I'm just curious whether it's been resolved though as the little baby died in April 2001...surely something would be done by now ?

Mojomummy · 09/09/2005 20:07

..sorry did I miss-read it ?

babyonboard · 09/09/2005 20:08

the forums are still active and the parents posted yesterday so I assume not..maybe this is something that has started recently?!

gingernut · 09/09/2005 20:12

No I don't think it's recent. I read something posted by this lady on another site which I used to visit occasionally. That was quite a while ago. .

babyonboard · 09/09/2005 20:18

here is an article from two days ago

so i guess it is still current.
i am sure this isn't an isolated case though..as sad as the story is, the main reason that inspired me is that my cousin was born at 28 weeks and died 2 weeks later, his grave was graffitied and teddies were stolen which causes untold grief for the family..

I have signed it.

QueenOfQuotes · 09/09/2005 20:24

Very sad.

I do wonder though whether it's just them that's being targetted or whether its a general 'crime' thing. I know local graveyards here often have things broken/stolen etc - usually happeing to more than one grave .

It's very sad that this nationwide problem has affected them but what more can they do - in reality?

babyonboard · 09/09/2005 20:27

You are right QOQ..
it is a common occurence..i just thought it may help them to know they have sympathy and support..and if they really want to have the baby exhumed, then I think that is their right!
not sure what the legal standpoint is on this, but if they can do it so far later for an autopsy, why not to give bereaved parents peace of mind, and the comfort that their baby is resting in a safe place.

sorry - x posts with the last link - it does look like this is targetted at them in this case.

madrose · 09/09/2005 20:38

Hulababy · 09/09/2005 20:46

How awful. Words fail me...

melissasmummy · 10/09/2005 13:37

To think that 1 woman doesn't believe he should have a proper resting place beacause he didn't draw breath is just disgusting.

Such a sad story, thoughts to the family.

purplekik · 16/09/2005 09:03

Monstersmum · 16/09/2005 09:46

Signed - can't believe people are so horrible or can I? Yes I suppose I can.

My parents had a baby girl when I was 4 and she died aged 10 hours. In good old Catholic Ireland she couldn't be buried in consecrated ground as she hadn't been babtised so my poor Dad had to physically buy a coffin, take coffin to cemetary when there was a corner called "The Angel's Plot" for these babies. And he had to physically bury her himself. My parents could never bring themselves to visit the grave and all records were lost as to where babies are actually buried so the exact spot isn't known. My Dad still gets really upset about all this.
