brand new curtains stolen - covered by insurance?

This is a long shot, really.
New curtains for dd's new bedroom arrived today, from John Lewis. Took them to my mother's to show her (also to get a cup of tea and time out from dd as it's my due date today). Came home, carried dd into house as she needed changing, left boxed curtains in the open front porch (edwardian house). When I went out to get curtains some absolute low-life opportunist thief had nicked them.
They cost about £300 (I know, I know, ridiculously expensive, but gorgeous and large and pregnancy hormones equals easy sell). Paid for by Barclaycard today, as that's when they were delivered.
Would I be covered for my temporary insanity in leaving them outside by household/credit card insurance? DH on way home from a wedding, just rang him in floods of tears as I was so excited (as was dd) about them. They've got jungle animals on them FGS - why would anyone want to steal them. Feel like an absolute idiot

not sure but definatley worth a try at those prices. give barclaycard a ring first, saying you left them on doorstep for approx 1 minute as you had to caryy sleeping dd into the house, you put her down went out and they had gone! if not then try household insurance.

Rubbish answer, I'm afraid, but you would need to check your policy. Or, failing that, just ring your insurance co. and they will be able to tell you. Every company's policies are different.

, I would be very , try either your mother's home insurance or Barclaycard (I think they offer some sort of cover on purchases).

Thanks for your posts - I'll get dh to check the policies out. I am such a fool, and it being due date, curtains were for dd's lovely "big girls" room and I'm just generally knackered I'm a lot more upset about this than I would usually be. Can't bear the idea of telling anyone in RL (including B'card/insurance companies!) that I am such a fool.

I think barcaly card do have a pretty good insurance thing for good purchased over £50 within X days of purchase... so you may be lucky.... well worth a call

( i know it meant hypothetically that when id bought my TV, if we wer in a car crash on way home (which we wernt) it would have been covered!)
