Someone in our area has just started a firework display, waking up two of my children. I thought this was supposed to be illegal now? Only allowed around 5th November and New Year's Eve?

Well.....

I hear them near our house about once a week. I have been told that drug dealers set fireworks off when a delivery of drugs come in as the police can't really trace where they come from

QueenOfQuotes · 03/09/2005 22:06

no it's only illegal between 11pm and 7am - except on 5th November

robinia · 03/09/2005 22:08

But why has my local toy shop got a sign saying they're not allowed to sell fireworks except between specified dates?

You don't live near me do you robinia? I've just had to endure yet another one too. But QOQ is right it's only illegal between 11pm and 7am.

thedogmother · 03/09/2005 22:09

We've also had fireworks tonight for some strange reason! How odd! Maybe they're celebrating because the kids are back at school next week?

saffy202 · 03/09/2005 22:13

Also had fireworks here! Very strange!!

robinia · 03/09/2005 22:14

Grrr... - have just googled it and qoq is right. I remember there being some new laws recently but can't belive that restricting them to pre 11pm is all that was done.

magnolia1 · 03/09/2005 22:17

We get them randomly through out the year. Its a pain coz at least on Nov 5th you expect it half the night but when its ram=ndom nights its really disruptive and my poor cats get so scared

nutcracker · 03/09/2005 22:17

Here too.

QueenOfQuotes · 03/09/2005 22:19

Just done a google for 3rd September and Fireworks - lots of placing having fireworks tonight, including

"Shugborough Festical of Fireworks"

"Last night of the Proms" at the Three Counties Showground

Must be something in the air!!!!???

Chandra · 04/09/2005 01:35

Did England win? maybe that's the cause. I remember loads of fireworks every time the local team won a match.

butty · 04/09/2005 01:37

Chandra · 04/09/2005 01:38

Well, as you can see I only knew about the match because of mumsnets threads this morning, we are a football and smoke free home.

butty · 04/09/2005 01:41

i stay downstairs i never dare to venture into his land, would be to torturing for me!!!!
I do smoke and drink, but with my life it's hard not to!!
Football is not my fave thing, although some of the men are hotties!!!!

Chandra · 04/09/2005 01:46

"i stay downstairs i never dare to venture into his land, would be to torturing for me!!!! "

Wise decision to stay out of it, you join them once, they think you like it and ...you are doomed! (Talking for an aunt who spent almost 30 yrs of marriage attending every sort of baseball matches every weekend....)
