Ok, so I'm a hopeless nosey parker, but was sat on Church Cove Beach on The Lizard a week or so ago and i overheard the Mum of the family sitting next to us saying to her husband something about buying something from mumsnet. Had to really supress the urge to go over and say, 'I'm a m/netter too'....thought it was worth a stab to see who it was.
NB - i am not a mad stalker!!!

spacecadet · 26/08/2005 16:31

ooh, i would have wanted to know too!

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 16:33

Isn't it irrational? I need to know who it was - and I'm not mad....honest! I have 'fixation' tendancies about unanswered questions though!

Wasn't me, but it might jog someones memory if you said how many kids, boys or girls and how old they looked? Also how old parents looked (Although if you wildly overestimate, you might get a slap!)

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 16:42

I'm notoriously bad with ages MTPW! I would undoubtedly get a slap!!
Think they had one child and he / she (I was trying hard not to stare you see and DH was literally grabbing my ankles to stop me getting up and walking over!) was quite young as in 6months / 18months....possibly....
She was saying that the nice lady on Mn was very good because she sent the item and told her to pay if she was happy with it.

Mytwopenceworth · 26/08/2005 16:44

he/she? 6-18mths? Would you be offended if I observed that your user name would seem most appropriate!!!

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 16:45

Not in the slightest chuck! It took me no time to think of that name!!!! Dh says he could tell I was truly blonde if he had his eyes shut!!

Now I want to know! and I wasn't even there.. I would have been trying to guess in my head.

In fact I probably would have engineered a

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 16:58

M O'H, I would have done but Dh double guessed me and said something along the lines of:
'And don't even think about talking about you know what in a loud voice, I will leave you on the beach with E if you do!'

For a true detective job, you could list all the names of people who have bought things in the 'for sale' threads in the 3 months before you saw her on the beach, and then cross-reference them with all the names of people who have said they are off on holiday to that part of the world! (lots of use of search facility, trawling the travel board. etc).

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 17:58

Itmay come to that Blu- I'm dreadful, a bit like an amateur Nancy Drew, when I'm faced with a mystery!!

LIZS · 26/08/2005 18:01

You could try to narrow it down a bit - say think of what tot was wearing/kiddie accessories they had, so perhaps shoes, waterproofs, swimming stuff, carrier, buggy, changing bag, portapotty et al - then do a search !

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 18:04

I wish I knew LIZS! Could wallop Dh now, he stopped me from staring over the wind break - I suppose they were sat right next to us! I know next to nothing about the poor lady Damn my inquisitive nature!!

bump for the evening crowd!

How embarrassing. It was me

I was going to post incognito with clues for you to trace me, since you seem to like a mystery, but we've got friends staying and the computer is in the spare bedroom (their little boy going to bed now) so no time , and not able to post again this evening.... (and anyway I don't post much, and I'm not a famous mumsnetter to be outed, I'm afraid)

Firstly Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - can't believe I've been spotted in RL - very very spooky (and I'm desperate to know what else I said that you overheard.....hope I haven't embarrassed myself)

Secondly, I was the poster who suggested Church Cove when you asked for ideas about your hols! Weird old coincidence.

Thirdly, why on earth didn't you come over and say hello? I'd have been thrilled! Silly moo.

Anyway, do really have to go, but will post tomorrow...hope the holiday was good.

Mystery solved

dizzymama · 26/08/2005 19:59

Ooooooooo, I have a warm, fuzzy feeling of closure!! Thank you for coming forward, it was the sort of mystery that would have driven me mad over time
Don't worry, I'm not such a stalker that I listened to anything else you said it was just the mn comment that made my ears prick up!
I would have come over but you were with the family and I didn't want to intrude (that and the fact DH had a firm hold on my ankles and was muttering divorce threatenings if I got up and said Hi!!) Wish I had clonked him on the head and come over now though.
Spookily I did wonder if you were you (IYSWIM!) after the Church Cove suggestion.Planning to go back in October but probably won't be beach sitting weather then!
Oh well, a MN meet up opportunity missed, now I'm off to beat Dh with a wet kipper for making me miss out!!!!
