Tomorrow I am working with a young girl who has many problems.
Nine times out of ten I'm not told the in's and out's of these childrens lives but today I have been as there have been previous problems.

I have been told she is very volatile, very violent, has absconded in the past, absolutly despises men, is very mouthy.
She is white and british but has made the deiscion to convert to islam and as a result has changed her name. If she is called by her proper name it makes her very angry. The only advice I have been given is that she likes it when people take interest in her life which is nothing new when dealing with these sorts of children.

Things like this don't normally bother me but I think now I've had time to mull it over I'm a bit concerned as to how I'm going to approach this girl. I will be working with 2 men which could pose a threat and as the girl is in secure accomadation, absconding is a major no no.

I just wondered if any of you could give me some good words of wisdom or any ideas to make tomorrow a nice day and one that I won't dread.
It's going to be Friday so I'd like to end the working week on a good note

Take an interest in the religion thing?

Call her by her new name and ask her about Islam?

If nothing else it should give you an 'in' to her, let you get to know here?

I thought about that but I don't know enough about religion.
I'll end up putting my foot in it.

Just ask her questions, make her the expert....that should boost her self confidence and self esteem???

I'll have to write a mental list of things to ask.
