munz · 24/08/2005 13:30

oh honney I didn't mean like that, but i'll assume u're already doing everything.

do u work? are you entitled to any benifits of any sorts?

MrsGordonRamsay · 24/08/2005 13:31

Is there an agency he can register with so they have work lined up for him, when this one finishes ??

charliecat · 24/08/2005 13:31

I did, I am not needed at work at the mo, except for supply, which may or may not mean 20 quid a week extra...arggghhhh

OP posts:
charliecat · 24/08/2005 13:32

He did agency before, i think it took about 3 onths for them to ring with a days work

littlemissbossy · 24/08/2005 13:33

cut down on your weekly shopping bill
sell stuff at a car boot/on ebay

BTW has he got any other job lined up... or are you in a position to get a job and he stay at home?

munz · 24/08/2005 13:34

20 quid's still 20 quid - even if it won't get u v far, but assuming it's not regular work, is there anything u could do instead for a little bit extra? for exapmle, in portsmouth they have mums to 'hold' the evening news papers - think the money's crappy - 300 p/m or somthing but u only work 2.30 (ish) till 6 ish I think it is 5 nights a week and the paper boys/girls come to ur house pick up their papers then deliver them, so u could stay at home with ur little ones and do tea still. althou if a boys doesn't turn up u'd have to do the round insted.

charliecat · 24/08/2005 13:36

I have sold everything sellable, honestly, and we only spend 40 quid on shopping. I need 21 quid a week for bus fares, he needs petrol to get to work and after that and the usual water tv licence gas electric there jack shit left. Its grim.
No job lined up, I am thinking of applying for saisburys shelf stacking or something. But then when he gets a job again we would be up the creek again wiht the kids to look after...rahhhh

Could you go get weekend work? Not ideal I know but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do - is it possible? Even something like Saturday's in Tesco?

munz · 24/08/2005 13:37

well think the important thing (as u say) isn't to get into debt with CC's etc u can't repay.

how old r ur children?

munz · 24/08/2005 13:38
Gobbledigook · 24/08/2005 13:38

If your dp works till 7 could you do 8-10 in a supermarket or something and then a Saturday or Sunday too maybe? It will be horrible but would bring in a couple of hundred pound extra a month I bet.

nutcracker · 24/08/2005 13:39

Oh Charlie I know exactly what you mean. Have added up our outgoings for next month and we are def gonna be short, and I was hoping to buy a couple of b'day and xmas presies too.

If i think of anything at all i'll let you know.

nutcracker · 24/08/2005 13:40

Some shops are asking for xmas staff already, I know I saw an ad in Boots.

charliecat · 24/08/2005 13:40

Thats what im thinking.......sigh...

OP posts:
nutcracker · 24/08/2005 13:41

Are both your kids at school ???

charliecat · 24/08/2005 13:43

Nearly, little one starts in a couple of weeks.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 24/08/2005 13:44

Ahh right, could you apply for a 10-2 job then ??

I know it's crappy, can't think of anything else though.
