Pointless thread I know, but satisfy my curiosity. Ds doubled his weight by seven weeks old, I'm sure this must be some sort of a record...can anyone beat this?

Ds:
birthweight: 6lb 11oz
weight at 7 weeks: 13lb 13oz

Dd by contrast:
birthweight: 7lb 10oz
8 months : 15lb 3oz

obviously nobody can beat it so you're all staying quiet

I can't beat you, but is interesting that I have the same pattern

DD - born 7.5lb- doubled by 21 weeks or so

DS - born 7lb, 14 oz. Doubled by 12 weeks...

Wallace · 23/08/2005 21:26

That's interesting...do girls usually grow more slowly I wonder?

Ds was about 15 months before he doubled his, but he was big baby and is skinny now!

Nemo1977 · 23/08/2005 21:31

ds 9lb 1oz at birth
8mths 18lb

Hulababy · 23/08/2005 21:32

DD

Birth weight: 6lb 15oz
8 weeks: 10lb 14oz
18 weeks: 14lb 5oz

7 weeks is very quick; you must be feeding him some powerful stuff

Wallace · 23/08/2005 21:33

still unbeaten

about 14 weeks DS doubled his birth weight but he only had to add 5 1/2 pounds to do that

Wallace · 23/08/2005 21:37

All my own work - can you tell I'm proud

He is six now, and a big strong lad (and that is not a euphemism for fat)

My thoery is he stayed small inside me because I am quite small, and then grew to his natural weight one he was born.

anybody else?

I don't know, I can never remember the answer to these questions - eek!

Wallace · 23/08/2005 22:12

I can only remember ds' because it was so remarkable - and just looked in red book for exact weights

Ds was 4lb 3oz at birth, after a few feeding gliches doubled at about 12 weeks!

Cant beat you!

Roobie · 23/08/2005 22:23

Don't get my ds weighed or take him to clinic but at his 6 week check he was 12lb 2oz (birth weight was 8lb 10oz). I thought that was pretty impressive given he is exclusively bf. He is a right little chunk now at 16 weeks - don't do weigh-ins though!

aloha · 23/08/2005 22:25

Absolutely no idea.

Melpomene · 23/08/2005 22:33

My dds both doubled their weights by 14 weeks. DD1 was born on the 25th percentile and reached the 91st percentile at 18 weeks!

100 per cent breastfed.

Wallace · 23/08/2005 22:36

Do breastfed babies gain weight more quickly in hte early months?

Ds also never lost any weight after he was born

DS1 - 7lb 3oz at birth
14lb 4oz at 14 weeks (BF)

DS2 - 7lb 11oz at birth
15lb 6oz at also at 14 weeks (bottlefed)

BUT - from birth to 4 weeks he went from 7lb 11oz up to 10lb 12oz (so 3lb in 4 weeks )

Roobie · 23/08/2005 22:47

Bf babies tend to gain weight slower in the early weeks.
