portable MP3 players; which one would you recommend or not?

i'm thinking about getting an MP3 player, a small one, relatively inexpensive.

what ones do you all out there recommend?

why or why not?

Apple iPod is excellent.

The Shuffle is also v good for random playing

someone told me that the ipod doesnt accept regular mp3 format, is that true?

(i dont know anything about them!!)

DH has a creative MP3 player, he loves it!
You should think about how many songs you are likely to want to store on it and decide from there.

I think DH's one is 20GB and can store upto 5,000 songs.

I'd get an ipod too although the new sony equivalent to the ipod shuffle looks exciting!

Ipods are made to play mp3s so not sure what they meant?

I have always been able to download any music I want very easily onto my Ipod, including unfortunately the Crazy Frog and Schnappi for the dds

anyone have experience with the creative zen mp3 player? was looking into those too. and they come in purple. my favourite colour!!!
