The One and Only TEA Room: Everyone Welcome (bring champagne and muffins please!)

Wow, we're on our third thread!!!
Previous (second) incarnation of the tea room.

A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

  • oh I wasn't commenting on any particular interior design guru, just on the genre as a whole!

Betcha I'm nearly as old if not older than you anyway

boccadellaverita · 26/01/2009 18:25

One day, thumbwitch, at a declared time, we're all going to post just one number with no commentary or explanation. Then we'll get to the bottom of who really is the oldest. And the youngsters on this thread can just watch and chortle.

bet your fire place is a model of tastefullness compared to teh horror we found when we bougt this house. 1970s back bolier and gas fire within a 1970s small stone blocks surround and teh chimney breast covered in FAKE brick tiling. Was dreadfull and was removed forthwith , plastered over and then painted deep red...

I've convinced DH we should have a short break at teh weekend, we're off to cornwall. I need to find a B&B tonight. Hurrah.

mistlethrush · 26/01/2009 20:16

UniS - sounds good. Have fun.

2 hour meeting this afternoon actually took 4 hrs...

MT - No, that was Friday. Keep up with my exotic jet set lifestyle Today, it was...wait for it... Aberdeen. I liked the helicopters.

A few houses ago I lived in a 1890 terrace. That had period features like an outside loo - does that count ? And a tiled fireplace. A lovely lime green 70's pattern.

amber32002 · 26/01/2009 20:26

Justabout, yes indeed, remember to tap three times on the to get in there. I'll send down a warming cup of something/glass of something strengthening and some nice Moussaka if you'd like some, freshly baked. I've had Mellors put in widescreen tele and a nice ensuite, so it should be comfy...

I saw a thread about a thread earlier on but didn't want to say anything. How anyone can start spouting when they haven't even read the original thread I don't know... . Anyway, enough of that, what do you put your super productivity down to today Rev - anything to do with the copious amounts of tea and coffee that we've had available for you today (not mentioning the place where I think you're probably hiding at the moment....)

wow, poking head through wall! spooky. Is it a gift or a skill, justa?

B&B booked, one we stayed at a few years back just before I knew boy was onboard. Only just- one day before I had an inkling.

good to know the Tea room has an elf and safe tea rep now. especially if justa is going to start popping through walls and scaring T42.

I've decided to keep my head down and not get involved outside the tearoom until its a bit more friendly....

So, how is everyone today?

CMot how was Aberdeen - and, indeed, how was Manchester?

Aberdeen was a bit strange - I was supposed to be doing a bit of a sales visit, but instead it was more me telling them what they needed to do. A good day though, and it was nice to have a bit of a gossip with them.
Funny airport - 99% male, and full of men hitting the beer at 3pm

Manchester was fine, although the M6 was stuffed on the way home, and my 'buy DH a birthday cake in M&S' plan was scuppered. He was happy though as I found a victoria sandwich for him and DS to eat once DH returned from his exciting day out

amber32002 · 26/01/2009 21:09

(Justa, the usual mocking stuff about disability.

boccadellaverita · 26/01/2009 21:17

cmot - did you go in a helicopter? I have only had one helicopter ride in my life and it was very nearly the most exhilarating experience I've ever had.

cmotdibbler · 26/01/2009 21:24

Pfffff - I can't imagine my boss's face if I tried to get a helicopter ride. With our strictly turning right at the aircraft door policy (no matter how long the flight), it wouldn't quite fit

No, it was just something that I hadn't really thought of, that there would be quite so many helicopters going off to the rigs. It was a really constant noise, and you could see loads at the airport

mistlethrush · 26/01/2009 21:44

{{{{Amber}}}} You're safe here at least....

Passes further glasses down into the priest hole and behind the sofa...

thumbwitch · 26/01/2009 21:52

WTF?? who is picking on justa and amber? I can't be doing with this bullying atmosphere, that's why I mostly stay on nice threads like this one, and occasionally venture onto controversial health/food based ones. And names - I like the names threads.

boccadellaverita · 26/01/2009 21:57

Ah, thumbwitch. I knew we'd met before. Was it on babynames? I love the whole business of choosing names.

thumbwitch · 26/01/2009 21:58
  • very funny name! Possibly bocca, I have certainly seen you around but have a dreadful memory as to where!
