The One and Only TEA Room: Everyone Welcome (bring champagne and muffins please!)

Wow, we're on our third thread!!!
Previous (second) incarnation of the tea room.

A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

by the way, anyone seen T42 lately?

Racingsnake · 25/01/2009 23:10

I was thinking it might be time to decide on the memorable musical tracks for The Movie, which we will of course release on a separate audio CD along with the other merchandising. May I put in a plea for this as our anthem, although I think we may look for a different cameraman.

daisy99divine · 25/01/2009 23:22

oh, good good choice Racing! I have just put my sound back on, and forgot I was watching ER the other night, nearly blasted myself to Chicago!

Now, how is our Canadian leather wearing gimp (snigger snigger!)

Oh, just settling down to do some work catch up on MN and DasiyBoy is coughing - guess I have about 2 seconds left!

boccadellaverita · 25/01/2009 23:23

Ooohh. The soundtrack. That should ensure the tea room's future. We might even be able to buy the adjoining land and have an even bigger paddock for Earl and Lady Grey.

There's no sound on this computer. Is that the classic Stand By Me (sung very movingly by last year's year 6 leavers at school)? If so, that's a wonderful choice. What else should we include?

There are the Tea Room (c) fascinators and floral tea pots. What else?

ThumbBurns · 25/01/2009 23:26

sisters are doing it for themselves, perchance?
A nice rendition of Tea for Two is surely a must
and Hotel California of course!

daisy99divine · 25/01/2009 23:52

It's raining men? Given the amount of energy time spent on with Mellors, George and Daniel?

Madonna, Wham and Adam Ant (obviously)

Some Al Green

Lots of Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald....

What about that old favourite: Everybody loves a vicar?

daisy99divine · 25/01/2009 23:53

Actually

I made that last one up

daisy99divine · 25/01/2009 23:54

Old McDonald has a Farm for the younger contingent

Racingsnake · 26/01/2009 00:06

Green Grow The Rushes of course, for the line "One is one and all alone."

daisy99divine · 26/01/2009 01:33

Of course, I forgot,

"One is one and all alone
And wearing Mary Jaaaa-nes"

mummypowerxxxjen · 26/01/2009 03:27

Hello
LOL at this crazy thread.
I am new on here tonight! I have muffins, champagne, dipping chocolate and a punnet of strawberries to share around with me.
So am I in???
Much Love, Jen.

JacksmamaSaysIHeartTheRev · 26/01/2009 05:41

You're definitely in. We love newcomers. (May I have some champagne?)

So, if you've read through the thread, you'll have to tell us who you'd like to play you in Tea Room, The Movie. (Cast as above, I'm not typing it out again, Bocca has more time than I do if she did it twice in one night!)

Tell us about you!!

cmotdibbler · 26/01/2009 06:24

I am so not a morning person, especially when I've woken up on the hour all night to make sure I get up in time.....

See you later !

amber32002 · 26/01/2009 06:38

Goodness me, I hadn't realised I treated Mellors in a shameful way the other day . There I was trying to clean the silverware, and it certainly did seem like an unusual cleaning method. But I assumed he knew what's what since he assured me he'd done it before and it was perfectly proper to use Bicarb of Soda to get the tarnish off.

JacksmamaSaysIHeartTheRev · 26/01/2009 06:40

Have a safe trip cmot!!

JacksmamaSaysIHeartTheRev · 26/01/2009 06:42

Good morning Amber... what's an "aspie"?

amber32002 · 26/01/2009 07:23

What's an aspie? I am. (term used occasionally by those with Asperger syndrome to describe themselves, though not a Politically Correct Term for general use, etc etc). Tony Attwood's explanation is probably useful if the next question is "What's Asperger syndrome" as he's the top international person for this particular form of permanently different brain wiring. Nice guy in real life, too.

(Differently wired brain?: A bit like ordering a family general purpose riding horse/carthorse and finding they've delivered a somewhat nervous thoroughbred racehorse instead. Hopeless for transporting the kids and the shopping, rather temperamental to look after unless they know their routine, not always a lot of common sense, but very handy for going at extraordinary speed over very long distances.)

Racingsnake · 26/01/2009 07:34

Morning all!

Everyone is always welcome, MummyPower. We are totally inclusive and love new customers. Did you know we are even harbouring a member of the clergy? What are you doing up at 3am? Are you an English insomniac or an Interesting Foreigner?

teafortwo · 26/01/2009 08:50

Bocca - I have a cunning plan. So cunning if you put a tail on it you could call it a fox! But not an ordinary fox. A fox who has done a degree in cunning and is now lecturing in the subject while completing his PHd.

The plan.... is....

amber32002 · 26/01/2009 08:54

This does explain Mellors commencing work on the new Priest Hole which can only be found by tapping three times on the oak floorboard just to the left of the ...oh, better not give its exact position away

It's also handy for hiding Bishops' advisers with a disability who have been told to Stay Away from Stressful Situations and who should not be on threads full of angry people, but we don't have anyone fitting that description here, luckily, do we

mistlethrush · 26/01/2009 08:58

CMot - 'frozen north'??!! It was Manchester wasn't it - its certainly not very freezing up here and I wouldn't say its particularly north. In fact, Manchester is actually fairly south - more so than you would think unless you look at a map....

Jen - welcome (if you're still here) - what's your morning drink of preference? And do you like mugs or cups (not that anyone will remember, but its nice to be asked to start with isn't it). Mind you, its pretty well become a self-service place, and I'm not sure that the honesty box even made it in here after the last move - it certainly hasn't been rattled much recently....
