Dc3 woke up in a bad mood, I brought her in my bed but she started to kick aggressively at me, I got so angry and shouted at her loudly.

which made her cry hard.
i feel so guilty, she has forgotten about it, but to be woken up by screaming then being kicked is so difficult

has anyone else been in this situation

I think it is perfectly natural to shout if someone kicks you, a normal shock response. As long as you weren't ranting on for ages and calling her names etc then it is fine.

It’s understandable. She might be 3 but she can understand that you don’t kick people and hopefully will now put 2+2 together.. if I kick Mummy I will get shouted out ?

There’s nothing wrong with taking her in your arms at some point today and explaining you’re sorry for shouting, that when she did that this morning you understand she didn’t mean it but you just got a fright because it caused you pain — that’s why it’s never ok to kick or hit. Explain how you felt, physically and inside, but why it still wasn’t ok to react that way, thereby turning the situation into an opportunity to teach her about emotions, apologising and taking responsibility. Turn it into a plus and a moment of tenderness 🙏
