We are going away next month after GCSEs for a fortnight, after a tough few months. For various reasons, none of her friends have been able to come with us, so it’s just going to be the three of us. Any idea how to get the most out of the holiday and enjoy ourselves without DD getting bored/lonely/fed up/homesick etc? A fortnight’s a long time and we can’t just pack up and go home if it doesn’t work out. Help

What type of holiday is it? Can she get involved in choosing some trips / places to visit / activities whilst there?

Is the holiday booked already? If not then you could consider a group trip or activity holiday where she’s likely to meet others.

If it is already booked, maybe there is something nearby which might do the same, like a surf school …?

What is she interested in? Where are you going?
I have one teen dd and we go away several times a year just the three of us. Dd is happy to lie in the sun, read a book, listen to Spotify, swim and eat. We always book at least one or two trips- a boat trip, water park etc. if it’s near a city we go there.

in the evening time we eat, play cards and see what entertainment is on locally.

Thank you for ideas and @slamdunk66 for your experience. Sorry I realised I didn’t give much information. It’s booked already at a holiday complex, beach nearby but also near typical towns in the area and tourist attractions. DD isn’t great at making friends spontaneously, quite shy and occasional social anxiety.
I just hope she’ll be okay (and there’s the rest of the summer to hang out with friends).
