I have a 12 week old son who I love he is the best thing that's ever happened to me but it's a lot
Day 3 he came home screamed for 8 hours straight they said it was wind but infacol done worked for a bit every night since between 7-9 he screams bloody murder like you are murdering him like he is severe pain i asked doctor last week and they said he might have silent reflux because of the symptoms not working apart from making his poos harder although he has stopped gagging. Like I say I love him but I've had to leave the house I'm sitting in my car crying but I honestly do not know what to do he is screaming. I've checked nappy he's not hungry he is breaking ALOT of wind. Im just at my wits end it's been like this every night since he was 3 days old and I need a break DH is amazing he doesn't get stressed but he works away so he only has to deal with this at the weekend. Any advice would be appreciated I've used infacol colif Dentoix I even bought a calpol plug in and humidifier cause he sometimes gets a stuffy nose. HELP ME PLEASE AS IM SITTING IN MY CAR CRYING. Only other thing I can think of is lip tie? He is 100% not tounge tied he sticks his tongue out so far he is also eating his hands and dribbling alot I thought teething? But surly not
I just don't know I'm fine all day but I dread the evenings so much and in laws and my parents are dying to watch him overnight but I can't bare to put they through that even tho I need the break. It seems tho about half 9 he goes to sleep and he's fine waking up at 4-5 for a bottle and that back to sleep till half 7 or half 8. Does anyone know what's going on or is this what you call colic? Sorry for the long
Post.

@yvonyvonneb13 I feel for you
My 4month old has had issues since 2 weeks old. Been to docs back and forth.
He had all signs of silent reflux and screaming.
Unsettled most of the day
Coughing
Acid breath
Throwing up
Sometimes swallows his sick up
Hiccups
Trouble burping
Constantly thrashing arching back when feeding and when not feeding
Most of the time fights his feeds but hungry, breaking off then going back
Won't settle
Isn't content
Won't lay down
Groaning
Sounds like a screeching car
Breaths in like its difficult
Only seemes settled when asleep. And when awake either crying screaming or just unsettled.
Happens different times of the day allthrough night, lunch to evening or evening to midnight can be a bit unpredictable
Raspy
Weezy
Regurgutating
Coughs then chews
Tiger hold helps a little. He tried gaviscon that didn't work then after weeks on end i pushed for omeprazole with paediatrician referral as the docs can't be licensed with it. This is made up liquid form. It was hard to use 😪 but I think it eventually has helped, he still has it now and also I use anti reflux milk. Comfort milk could also be worth a try too ?
It's very hard awful when they cry so much and you don't know what's best to do.

Unfortunately in my experience this is completely normal. And nothing help. They need to grow bigger.

Mine were a lot better once over 4 months old.

Try Dr Browns bottles.

Yes my son and my sisters son had the same problem.
Always crying same time every night. I know witching hour is definitely a thing but I could just see by his face and cry it was a pained one.
I'm not sure what milk you are on but we switched to cow and gate comfort milk. It's less lactose. Easier to digest and helps with colic. They also do an anti reflux milk. Honestly after 48 hours I had a completely different baby. He was back to being happy.
My sister tried the same milk but it wasn't enough to help so she's also switched to Dr Brown bottles (expensive but made a massive difference) then gripe water in every bottle. The stuff is amazing and she also has baby gaviscon from the Dr and he's not a lot better. He used to cry all fsu everyday so I'm glad its worked for her.
For me the milk change was a life saver.

I use kenamil he seems to like it he is very very windy like the bottle has heaps of bubble in it so he's obviously sucking air as I don't shake to avoid that and I'm using mam but sometimes I'm convinced he's not latching on sometimes and there's a gap? But I think atm I'm looking for problems I tried gripe water once and I swear I have never heard him cry the way he did after that so I thought it made it worse or it was a odd thing to happen at same time.

Yes I'd ask for a paediatrician referral and mention omeprazole that settles the acid in the tummy so when reflux happens baby is in less pain

stephn88 · 01/05/2023 08:29

You could try changing the bottle teat flow to slower, he may be gulping to try and keep up with the fast flow

Has he been checked by a lactation consultant or tongue tie specialist for tongue tie? With posterior tongue tie they can still stick their tongue out but can't move it properly to the roof of their mouth, it can only be confirmed by one of the above. Everyone has a lip frenulum that's normal, but a lip tie if present is usually with a tongue tie not on its own.

Have you a sling to keep him upright?
