One child meet up groups.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone was aware of any ‘one child’ meet up groups (or even how to start one?)
I have a 3 year old son and I would love to meet up with other ‘only child’ families. All my mum friends have at least 2 children and sometimes it just feels really hard to fit in. Comments such as ‘you don’t know how lucky you are just to have one’ or ‘we didn’t feel complete until we had 2 children’ sting.
Although we no longer plan to have anymore, our 4 miscarriages and failed IVF have made us come to that decision.

I’ve read a lot of positive comments about the joys of just one child, I’d love to meet up with others in the same situation.

There used to be a very busy “tea room” chat thread on this board. You could revive that as an adjunct to any meet-ups.

Oh thank you. I’m not the best at finding my way around mumsnet. Is it in the one child family section or would I find it somewhere else?

Celledora, I am West Sussex.

Yes, it was part of the one child family board. It started (from memory) about 10 years ago and ran for years, over many threads. If you start a new one I’m sure people will turn up.

I'd be interested. I'm in east Anglia. DS is an only by choice.

Maud and Summ3ers have attempted to start a tearoom. I had a look back but only have a rough idea of how it worked! I'd personally like it to be at least partly about what's happening in RL not just the silliness but we will see.

Lottie will you join us? I'm in East Anglia too.

I've just posted in the tearoom, I'm another East Anglian with a DD due to start school in Sept. I've found the social aspect (for both me and DD) really hard as I'm back at work and nursery friends haven't extended to outside nursery hours.
