Nurseries in St Albans?

Hi,
I'm 14 weeks' pregnant with my first baby and have been told by several parents that I should register with a nursery asap.
The problem is I'm new to St Albans and have no friends with children in the area.
Can anyone recommend a good nursery in St Albans, preferably near the mainline station (but not essential)?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Both my children went to Waiscott House nursery - 01727 811 116. It's on Harpenden Road, about a mile from St Albans station so easily walkable.

Admittedly it's been a few years since my kids were there but I was always very impressed with the level of care so it's definitely worth a look.

I can't personal speak for Waiscott, however my work colleague use to work there and she said it was a very unpleasent experience, and though as child carers you try to give your best to the children when resources are limited, and ratios are high (or exceeded) not only the staff suffer but the children do.

This said, things may have improved since then, and as i said this is not from personal experience, more from word of mouth.

There a few busy bees in st.albans neither of which i would recommend, there is a nursery right near the station, and for some reason i can not remember its name, (orignal it was called muriel green, they moved). I have heard some posistives from there.

Muriel green, is on london road, it would probably be quite a walk from the station, but i have visited it many times, it seems lovely, and some of my lovely lovely children are leaving my nursery to attend there (as they are going to there before going to school) most of the children in those classes will be in their school.
