Sun hats at nursery

At my DD's previous nursery, children wore legionnaire's style hats when out in the sunshine. My DD is at another nursery now and I noticed yesterday that this didn't happen, nor was sunscreen applied. I pass another nursery en route and notice the same. Is this standard practice?

Both nurseries my DS has been to will put on hats that you provide and also apply sunscreen. I would pull my child out of a nursery that didn't apply sunscreen but did take them out in the sun in the last 2 days.

At DS's nursery, you provide your own hat of whatever style the parent deems fit, and they have to wear them. They have suncream applied at regular intervals.

Ask your DDs nursery for their sun policy - I think they have to have one

My DD's nursery ask that parents provide sun hats and suncream. It is regularly applied.

DS's nursery ask you to bring a sunhat and cream and they will apply them. If you forget or run out, they've got a stash of hats and their own cream. They also set up umbrellas in the garden and put some play things in the shade.

It's irresponsible to take children out in the sun with adequate protection, regardless of how they do it.

We ask parents to provide hats, and apply our own suncream (unless parents choose to provide their own). We also have spare nursery hats as some parents forget.

ours like to use their own sun cream (i guess easier than dealing with 20 bottles) but bring your own hat. however dd has 'lost' so many hats there i don't send her with one. she wears 'lost property' ones, none of which are hers
