but not sure if i can do anything about it!

Have just found out from other parents at my ds's nursery that they are paying about a third less each month for exactly the same amount of days as we are.

these parents had the'r kids same time as us but apparently didn't sign their kids up to the nursery until there was a discount on offer. this discount runs for the whole time the'r kids are at nursery. we didn't even know discounts were on offer and just signed ds up as soon as poss because we know it's a popular nursery.

have emailed nursery but no response and they are still charging us the same fees.

Am going to call them but just would like to know is this common practice and do we really have a leg to stand on? don't want to threaten to take ds out of nursery but just really peed off!

That's annoying but I don't know there's anything you can do about it.

I can see why you are pissed off - I wold be too.
However, it is a business and therefore normal business model rules apply I would think. If you had waited like the other parents you may have missed a place.
they ought to respond to your email though.

I don't think you can force them to offer you the same discount as you (presumably) have signed a contract.

You could say that you are thinking of taking your child out as you have found cheaper and see if they offer to match?

i would but they may call my bluff!

i just feel we've taken for a ride grrrrr

we didn't sign a contract as such, just filled in a health and safety form, gave contact numbers etc and confirmed which days we would need ds to be there. since then i have changed one of the days by email, nothing signed. We signed to agree to give 2 months notice before taking ds out of nursery but didn't sign to say we will be paying x amount each month.

what bothers me as well is that we weren't told that discounts were even available, otherwise we would have waited a few days until the next month when the discount was up for offer

don't know if this matters though, would still like them to respond at least! i think i will call tomorrow to at least get some kind of answer.

speak to the National Day Nurseries Association for advice. Number was 01484 723322 last time I called.
