Calculation of nursery fees - question please

My children are moving nurseries so we have to ensure that all bills are paid etc and deposits returned. I have a query regarding what we are being charged for Jan and Feb 2010 bills and was looking for some thoughts.

In January we were charged for 5 weeks even though there were only 21 days of nursery (i.e. 4 weeks and 1 day) of which 1 is a bank hoiday (which we do pay for).

In Feb we are being charged 4 weeks.

This didn't seem correct to me so I queried it and was told you get charged the number of weeks for which there are fridays.

Does this sound like rubbish? In theory I suspect that over the course of a year this may work out ok so that for some months there may be 4 weeks and 4 days but not a Friday and you only get charged for 4 weeks(can anyone find a month in the last 3 years like this so I can check this?) but when you are only paying for jan and half of feb(we leave next week) I don't think this can be right.

My friend in HR seems to think getting paid for a week if you work the Friday is normal. I know that when I left work they worked my salary out to the day and if you only work say 2 days of a week and one is a friday you don't get paid the full week but just 2/5ths of the week.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks very much
